Sambonet Flatware
Sambonet flatware is available in 5-piece place settings and from open stock including large selections of serving pieces. On this page, you will find over 30 patterns that are available. Material types and finishes:
- EPNS - electrosilverplated nickel silver. The base metal is nickel silver, also known as German silver or alpaca, which is similar in heft, strength, and color as sterling silver. The outer surface is silverplated in 999.9 per mille pure silver that has been hand polished to a bright mirror finish.
- EPSS - electrosilverplated stainless steel. Base metal is 18/10 stainless steel with outer surface silverplated in 999.9 per mille pure silver that has been hand polished to a bright mirror finish.
- SS - all 18/10 stainless steel with a bright polish finish.
- BSS/CSS/GSS - these refer to physical vapor deposition (PVD) metalic (black, copper, gold) finishes on stainless steel. Very contemporary!
When silverplated goods are produced, Sambonet employs its own unique and exclusive silverplating process (HSSP) to electroplate 999.5 per mille pure silver to the base metal (the nickel-silver or stainless steel). This creates a ply of silver that is up to two times harder and four times more resilient to tarnishing than conventional silverplating.
While hotels and restaurants will machine wash Sambonet silverplated flatware because they use a special de-mineralized water rinse to avoid water spotting on the mirror polished finish. Four household use, Sambonet recommends hand washing and drying of silverplated flatware to avoid spotting. The all-stainless steel flatware is easily cleaned in a household dishwasher.
